Funeral services for fallen Chicago firefighter Michael Altman, 32, will be held Tuesday, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Altman died earlier this month from injuries sustained while battling a fire in Rogers Park.

His funeral arrangements were originally planned for Friday, but were postponed until Tuesday after his wife went into labor last week.

The private service will take place 10 a.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, followed by burial at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.

City officials are encouraging the public to line the procession route along 103rd Street and Cicero Avenue to 111th Street, ending at Holy Sepulchre, to show support to the Altman family.

Altman was a fourth-generation firefighter but was new to the department. He would have marked his second anniversary with the CFD in May.
