Cleveland County, NC, Medic Killed, Another Hurt in Ambulance Crash
A Cleveland County paramedic was killed and another was killed in a crash Monday morning in Gaston County.
Paramedic Ashley Moore, 37, of Lawndale, who was treating a patient, was killed in the 8 a.m. on U.S. 74, according to WBTV.
Another EMS crew member, who was driving, the patient and the person behind the wheel of a Dodge Challenger were transported for injuries.
The car rear-ended the ambulance causing it to flip onto its side, North Carolina Highway Patrol officers reported.
Moore, also a field training officer, had been with Cleveland County EMS for nine years.
“Our entire Cleveland County team is grieving the loss of one of our own," EMS Director Thomas McNeilly wrote in a statement posted on the Cleveland County Government Facebook page.
McNeilly added that Moore exemplified the highest of the EMS profession and dedication to our community.
