Dozens Homeless After Wis. Apartment Fire

Firefighters worked for several hours to gain the upper hand on a fast moving apartment fire in Howard.

The fire, at the Northern Pines apartment complex was reported about 4 p.m.

Sheriff's went door-to-door to alert residents to the fire.

Brown County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Greg Tilly told Fox 11 TV  "When we arrived we found the second floor of the apartment building, it's a two story 24 unit building, with flames and we were able to make sure everyone was evacuated."

“We had just moved in two hours ago,” Howard Young told the Green Bay Press Gazette. “We were planning to leave for dinner but decided to hang out for a bit. That’s when police knocked on our door and told us to get out.”

Crews from multiple department brought the fire under control by 7 p.m.

Officials told local media that dozens of residents were displaced.
