A Chicago firefighter was injured after being struck by part of a chimney while battling a residential blaze early Monday.

A residential building fire in Little Village that spread to three nearby buildings early Monday has left 10 people without a home and one firefighter injured, according to Chicago police.

The fire occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the 2500 block of South Albany Avenue, police said. The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.

The fire started in a 2.5 story building, according to the Chicago Fire Department. It was struck out by 3:30 a.m.

A firefighter suffered a shoulder injury after being hit by a chimney part, police said. The firefighter was taken to a hospital in fair condition.

No one else was injured, police said.
