Fresno firefighters needed additional units to battle the blaze that burned through the roof pf an apartment building and displaced seven people.

Fresno Fire Department put out a two-alarm apartment fire in central Fresno early Saturday morning.

Firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire when they arrived to the Fontainebleu apartment complex in the 3000 block of North Fruit Avenue. Firefighters requested additional units to help put out the blaze, according to a post from a public information officer on Twitter.

Firefighters had to evacuate multiple units once on scene, said Rhett Pratt, a public information officer with the fire department.

Crews knocked down the flames and worked through the morning to fully extinguish the fire.

Video posted in a Facebook group shows flames burning through the roof on the second floor and residents lining the street and recording on cellphones.

Seven people were displaced from the home and 12 units were affected. Some of the units had smoke and water damage but were not a complete loss, Pratt said. There were no injuries.

Fire investigators estimate the total loss and damages around $100,000, Pratt said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
