Phoenix Firefighter Rescued after Struck by Falling Ceiling Beam

A Phoenix firefighter was taken to the hospital in stable condition after a beam fell on him when part of a ceiling collapsed during house fire late Saturday.

A Phoenix firefighter was rescued late Saturday after he was struck by a falling ceiling beam during a house blaze.

Crews responded to a fire shortly before 10 p.m. at a house at Seventh Street and Greenway Road shortly before 10 p.m., the Phoenix Fire Department said in an online update. When they reached the scene, firefighters encountered a fast-moving blaze in the home's attic.

A firefighter was injured by a beam that fell on him when part of the ceiling collapsed. He was quickly pulled outside by fellow firefighters and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

At the hospital, the firefighter was alert and able to talk with doctors, KNVX-TV reports

Firefighters were able to get the flames under control quickly. No one was home at the time, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, the department added.
