Two People Perish in MI Residential Blaze
JACKSON, MI -- Two people have died in a house fire on Jackson’s south side.
The victims were found by firefighters on the house’s second floor. No other information about the victims was being released by officials Saturday morning.
Firefighters were called to the 700 block of Audubon Boulevard about 6:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, said Jackson Fire Department Assistant Chief Chris Ermatinger.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the first floor engulfed in flames, Ermatinger said. They did an aggressive knock down of the fire on the interior.
“They did a primary search and were able to find two occupants up on the second floor,” Ermatinger said.
The State Fire Marshal is running the investigation with assistance from the Jackson Police Department and Jackson Fire Department, Ermatinger said.
Firefighters from Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety, Summit Township, Spring Arbor Township, Napoleon Township and Henrietta Township assisted the Jackson Fire Department at the scene. Jackson Community Ambulance and the medical examiner were also on the scene along with Michigan State Police and the Jackson Police Department.
