San Francisco Firefighter Injured in 2-Alarm Blaze

Smoke was billowing from the third floor of a Hayes Valley neighborhood apartment building when crews arrived, and a second alarm was struck to keep the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.

A San Francisco firefighter was injured while battling a two-alarm blaze early Sunday.

The fire broke out at about 3:30 a.m. in an apartment building in the city's Hayes Valley neighborhood, KPIX-TV reports. Smoke was billowing from the third floor as crews arrived, and a second alarm was struck in order to keep the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. The residents were able to safely escape the blaze without injury.

Crews were able to get the fire under control by about 5 a.m., according to KPIX.
