VA Firefighter Injured in Blaze that Killed 15 Pets

Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews responded to a fire that erupted at a single-story house and killed three dogs, seven kittens and five snakes.

A  Virginia firefighter was injured during a large residential blaze Saturday.

The fire broke out at 8:15 p.m. at a single-story home in Suffolk, according to Suffolk Fire & Rescue. When crews arrived, they encountered heavy flames, but the house was unoccupied at the time.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Details about how the injuries were caused were not released.

Crews were able to get the fire under control by 9:42 p.m., the department said. The blaze displaced three people and killed three dogs, seven kittens and five snakes.
