TN Firefighter Injured Battling Fire at Vacant Structure

Knoxville Fire Department crews needed to force their way into the partially boarded up building in order to make sure no one was trapped inside.

A Tennessee firefighter was injured battling a fire at a vacant structure Sunday.

The fire broke out just before 9:15 a.m. at a partially boarded up building in Knoxville, WVLT-TV reports. Once firefighters reached the scene, they forced their way inside to make sure no one was trapped and began putting out the flames.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital during the call, and the injuries weren't considered life-threatening. Crews were able to get the fire under control within 15 minutes, according to WVLT.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
