Cleveland Firefighter Injures Shoulder in Church Fire

Firefighters worked for more than an hour to get control of a fire that broke out at a church on the city's east side, sending one firefighter to the hospital.

A Cleveland firefighter was injured during a fire that erupted at a church early Friday.

Crews responded to a fire at Refuge Missionary Baptist Church on the city's east side just after 1:40 a.m., WEWS-TV reports. Firefighters needed more than an hour to eventually get the flames under control, according to WJW-TV.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital after injuring a shoulder during the call. Details about how the injury happened and the firefighter's condition were not released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
