NC Firefighter Injured in Fatal Residential Fire

A house fire that killed one person and injured a Charlotte firefighter on the city's west side was determined to be arson.

A North Carolina firefighter was injured during an intentionally set residential fire that left one person dead early Sunday.

Charlotte Fire Department crews responded to a house fire on the city's west side just before 6 a.m., WJZY-TV reports. An investigation of the incident after firefighters got the flames under control determined that the fire was an arson.

A firefighter suffered unspecified injuries battling the fire. The first responder was taken to the hospital, and the injuries weren't considered life-threatening.

The fire caused more than $60,000 in damages, according to the department.
