Fire at NY Apartment Building Leaves 65 Homeless

A three-alarm fire in Perinton caused extensive damage to an apartment building and required multiple fire departments to bring it under control.

Sixty-five residents of a Perinton apartment complex lost their homes after fire tore through their building Tuesday morning.

Fairport Fire Department officials said they received the call for a fire at the Point of and first arriving crews found heavy fire through the roof with residents evacuated, according to WHEC News 10.

Firefighters were initially hampered by a bad hydrant but were able to quickly locate others to establish a water supply. 

The massive fire required three-alarms to control the blaze but18 units were affected by the fire. 

Mutual aid was brought in from almost every department on the eastside of Monroe County, as well as some Wayne and Ontario County departments.
