Around 165 FDNY firefighters responded to the massive fire late Thursday in the Bronx, which injured at least 11 firefighters and civilians and displaced 15 families.

At least 11 people, including six FDNY firefighters, were injured late Thursday in a four-alarm apartment fire in the Bronx.

Around 165 firefighters battled the blaze, which broke out at around 11:30 p.m. in a six-story building, WPIX-TV reports. Eyewitness video showed flames erupting from windows on the building's top floor, and 15 families were displaced by the fire.

It's not clear what type of injuries the firefighters and civilians sustained. At least one person suffered a serious injury, according to WPIX.

A resident on the building's sixth floor told the TV station that she and her neighbors used the fire escape to get out the building after they were awakened by the smell of smoke.

"We couldn't get out the front door," she added.
