Roof Fall Doesn't Seriously Hurt Los Angeles Firefighter

Despite video footage showing a harrowing fall from the burning roof, the firefighter only suffered minor injuries during the large blaze at a home in Los Angeles' Sun Valley.

A Los Angeles firefighter suffered only minor injuries after he lost his footing and fell off the roof of a burning house late Saturday.

Video from the scene captured the firefighter's harrowing tumble while battling the massive blaze at a home in the Sun Valley neighborhood of Los Angeles, KCBS-TV reports. Despite the alarming footage, the firefighter was not believed to be seriously hurt by the fall.

Crews responded to the fire in the 11600 block of Cantara Street. A couple and their young child lived in the house, and although the residence was gutted, none of the occupants were hurt, according to the TV station.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to contain the blaze keep flames from spreading to neighboring homes, which were evacuated as a precaution. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, KCBS added.
