It took crews from multiple fire departments several hours to put out the blaze that broke out at a home in Bridgeport late Monday.

An Ohio firefighter suffered cardiac problems while battling a house blaze late Monday.

The fire broke out at about 6:30 p.m. in Bridgepot, WTOV-TV reports. Firefighters from multiple departments around the area responded to the scene, and it took crews several hours to extinguish the flames.

"We had flames already showing from the back of the house in the kitchen area," Bridgeport Fire Chief Mark Subasic told the TV station. "From there it spread to some of the first floor, up through the floor, into the second floor and into the roof."

While tackling the blaze, a firefighter began suffering from cardiac issues. That firefighter was taken to the hospital, but no other details were released.
