Apartment Blaze Sends MO Firefighter to Hospital

Around 20 Central County firefighters helped residents escape a burning St. Peters apartment building after a fire broke out on the third floor early Friday.

A Missouri firefighter was injured while battling an apartment blaze early Friday.

The fire broke out shortly before 2:30 a.m. at Turnberry Place Apartments in St. Peters, KMOV-TV reports. After the first responding Central County Fire units encountered heavy flames and high winds at the scene, they called in 20 more firefighters and six more apparatus.

At least one firefighter suffered minor injuries during the blaze and was taken to the hospital, KMOV added. No details were given about how the firefighter was injured or the extent of the injuries.
