A Massachusetts firefighter was injured while battling a three-alarm blaze early Wednesday.

New Bedford crews responded to the blaze that broke out in neighboring triple-deckers at about 8 a.m. WPRI-TV reports. Investigators believed the fire started in a house behind one triple-decker.

Flames continued to erupt through that triple-decker's roof, eventually collapsing it. One firefighter suffered burns on his hands battling the blaze.

Earlier, crews had tackled another fire call shortly after midnight. In that incident, firefighters rescued a woman from a burning apartment, and EMTs were able to resuscitate her before taking her to the hospital, WPRI added.
