A Baltimore County firefighter was injured battling a two-alarm blaze at a restaurant early Thursday.
The fire broke out at about 1:30 a.m. at the Islander Inn in Edgemere, WJZ-TV reports. When crews reached the scene, they discovered propane tanks in the back of the building that needed to be shut off.
Flames collapsed the restaurant's second floor and roof. Firefighters had to tackle the blaze from the outside after encountering trouble getting water from hydrants.
A firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No details were given regarding how the firefighter was hurt or the extent of the injuries
The fire began in the freezer and storage area of the restaurant. The restaurant's owner and his wife lived above the business and were displaced by the blaze.
