OH Chemical Plant Fire Lights Night Sky

Aug. 16, 2022
Madison Fire Chief Tod Baker said the building held plastic containers, no chemicals.

A fire at a chemical plant lit the sky in Madison Village Monday night.

The building on fire housed plastic containers, and no chemicals were involved, Madison Chief Tod Baker told WKYC reporters.

“Because of the size of the fire, water supply was one of the challenges," Baker said. "Big building, big fire requires big water, so that was a challenge. The location was also a challenge. There’s one narrow entrance in and one narrow entrance out. The biggest challenge was trying to protect the tank farms that are here that store chemicals.”

The Lake County Hazmat Team responded to the scene to assist.
