Multiple dogs drowned when a doggie day care flooded with more than six feet of water after a severe storm Monday in northeast D.C.
D.C. Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly told reporters: "It’s hard to watch; it’s unbearable. This is losing a member of your family or being scared that you did.”
As anxious owners waited, fire and rescue personnel emerged from the building holding wet dogs. Some were shaking and appeared to hug their carriers.
A dirty mark on the wall showed the water level that entered the center on Rhode Island Avenue, an area widely known for flooding.
