Ladder pipe operations were in place as crews launched a defensive attack at the vacant Seattle building fire.

Seattle firefighters have been battling a blaze in a commercial building for several hours.

They found heavy smoke and flames coming from the two-story vacant building just after midnight.

After assessing the scene, incident command quickly upgraded the response to a two-alarm fire, bringing in more resources to help fight the fire, according to a department release.

Crews took a defensive attack, pouring water on the fire from the exterior of the building. Several ladder trucks were deployed as well.

No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.

Seattle officials recently gave the fire department permission to raze vacant buildings.
