Iconic Buffalo, NY, Bar Destroyed in Fire
The Old Pink, once voted as one of America's Top 10 dive bars, was destroyed in a fire early Monday morning.
WIVB reported that the fire at the popular bar on Allen Street in Buffalo was first reported around 5:45 a.m. Monday with flames and heavy smoke coming from the bar.
Fire crews were forced to take a defensive attack.
The fire was mostly under control by 7 a.m.
Fire officials confirmed that the building cannot be saved.
An emergency demolition was ordered.
The website Buffalo Rising called the Old Pink “a legend and an institution. Old dive bars such as this are fewer and fewer. One thing is for sure – without The Pink, Allentown will never be quite the same.”
