Shortly after 7 pm on Friday January 9th the Campbell Hall Fire Department was alerted for a possible house fire on RT 207 in the area of Day Rd in the Town of Hamptonburgh.
Campbell Hall Command arrived to heavy smoke from a 2.5 frame farmhouse and immediately requested Mutual for a Tanker from Maybrook. Eventually additional Mutual Aid was requested from Washingtonville & Goshen to the scene initially.
At the time of dispatch the wind chill was between 0 and 10 below, despite the bitter cold and no hydrants Firefighters stood their ground with the stubborn blaze and brought in under control in about 90 minutes. Coldenham, Walden, Montgomery and Vails Gate were on standby and eventually called into the scene for relief purposes due to bitter cold wind chills.
