On January 6, 2004 at mile marker 161 west bound I-80 in Centre County, PA an accident occurred with three fatalities and many still missing.
The first call came in at 12:15 during the white out.
There were 3 life-flight hellicopters, and fire departments from 4 counties on location.
Crews worked in 10 degrees weather after the white out conditions blew through. They continued to work through the night as temperatures dropped.
