Two children were listed in critical condition following an overnight fire at the Stonegate Meadows Apartments in Kansas City.
Jason Spreitzer, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Fire Department, told FOX4 News that nine children and six adults were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, burns or both.
Five of the adults are listed in serious condition.
Witnesses said the fire was visible from the first and second floor, and people were seen jumping from the second floor to escape. Stairs and fire escapes were also on fire.
Spreitzer said fire crews were in rescue mode immediately upon arrival and pulled residents from balconies.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
