Los Angeles firefighters rescued a man who fell down a trench at a construction site Thursday.

Crews arrived at the East Hollywood construction site just after 8:30 a.m. after receiving a call about a man, 50, who fell into a trench around 40 to 50 feet deep and 3 feet wide, KCBS-TV reports. When firefighters arrived, they were able to talk to the man, and they set up a ventilation system to keep fresh air flowing.

Firefighters used a tripod and ropes to pull the man to the surface in about an hour. He was taken to the hospital, and his injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening, according to KCBS.
