A woman was saved Monday afternoon after the driver of a trash truck in New Hampshire saw her inside the compactor area of the truck, police said.

According to multiple reports, the driver of the trash truck called police after looking at the camera system around 12:30 p.m. and noticing there was a person trapped, along with trash, in the back of the truck.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the woman stuck inside the rear of a garbage truck after the truck driver had emptied a dumpster and compacted the garbage up to four times, according to a report from Patch.

The truck driver said if he had not seen her on the camera, the truck would have been compacted several times as other dumpsters in the area were emptied. Firefighters with the Manchester Fire Department said she was pulled from the “belly” of the trash truck within 20 to 30 minutes.

The woman, who has not been identified, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was “conscious and alert” when she was transported to the hospital, authorities said.

Several videos of the rescue on social media show first responders lowering a basket into the truck. Another video shows them hauling the woman out of the truck and EMS placing the woman in an ambulance.

The woman appeared to have been dumped into the truck from a dumpster at a previous stop, according to one report.
