San Francisco Firefighters Pull Man from Fiery Crash

San Francisco crews extricated a driver who was surrounded by flames in his mangled car after slamming into a fuel storage tank at a gas station early Friday.

San Francisco firefighters rescued a man surrounded by flames in his crumpled car early Friday after he plowed into a fuel storage tank at a Chevron gas station, officials said.

The accident occurred at about 3 a.m. on the 1100 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

Crews responded to the gas station near Parkmerced and San Francisco State University and were able to safely extricate the man from his car and extinguish the flames by about 4 a.m. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

No other details were immediately available.
