San Francisco FFs Pull Unconscious Man from Fiery Car Crash

Firefighters extinguished the flames and extricated the driver in a solo-car accident after it caught fire in the city's Presidio area.

San Francisco firefighters rescued a man from a vehicle on fire in the Presidio Sunday morning following a solo crash, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded to a report of a solo-vehicle collision and blaze near Moraga Avenue and Infantry Terrace in the Presidio shortly after 8 a.m., Fire Department spokesman Lt. Jonathan Baxter said.

First responders who arrived on the scene found the vehicle's engine engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading toward the driver and passenger seat, Baxter said.

The man, who was unconscious and trapped inside the vehicle, was rescued with the Jaws of Life tool as firefighters put out the flames.

The man was taken to a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries, Baxter said.

Officials did not provide more details about the crash.
