An adult male was killed, and two others seriously injured after part of a home collapsed onto the front porch of a Chicago residence.
Officials said the cockloft crashed down onto the porch due to crumbled bricks, which caused it to fail.
Two men, ages 32 and 68, were critically injured in the collapse and were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
A 53-year-old man trapped under the rubble was pronounced dead at the scene.
The residence had failed two previous inspections, according to the building department.
ABC 7 Chicago reported the building had around a half dozen alleged violations in 2015 including "failing to maintain the exterior walls of the building," with city records noting "washed out mortar."
