Pastoral Crisis Intervention 1 combines the traditional techniques of crisis intervention with the faith-based resources which chaplains and clergy of all faiths can offer to first responders and victims of traumatic events. The class consists of two days of instruction, Monday and Tuesday, May 24 and 25, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• The Nature of human crisis
• The "crisis of faith"
• The Nature of crisis intervention
• Criteria for psychological triage
• A brief look at Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
• Common PCI mistakes
• Signs and symptoms of the crisis state
• Challenging PCIs not a substitute for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training.
Completion of "Pastoral Crisis Intervention 1" and receipt of a certificate indicating full attendance (13 Contact Hours) qualifies as a class in the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation’s Certificate of Specialized Training Program. It is a required course for the Federation of Fire Chaplains’ advanced (master) certification.
