A 33-year-old Spring Grove man was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital after he fell off a billboard onto a North Versailles Township building.
Corey Clayton Cook fell approximately 17 feet on Wednesday at 2:47 p.m. in the 1700 block of Lincoln Highway, or Route 30.
He was working on a billboard for Trone Outdoor Advertising of Hanover. When contacted after the incident, company officials had no comment.
Fire Department of North Versailles used a ladder truck to get him off the building roof.
"He was unable to walk," FDNV Capt. Eric Parrish said. "We had to load him on the aerial device and get him down. He isn't critically injured, but he's severely injured."
Township police Chief Vincent DiCenzo Jr. said Cook said he was getting on the lower platform of the billboard when he fell.
Parrish said Cook was transported by FDNV EMS to a landing zone at East Allegheny High School. Rainbow Volunteer Fire Co. had an engine at the landing zone to assist.
Police notified Occupational Safety & Health Administration of the incident. The government agency and police will be investigating the fall.
One other worker was with Cook at the time of the fall.
