GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio --

Two firefighters are recovering after being injured while fighting a two-alarm fire Monday.

A firefighter was injured after falling through the second floor of a home in Green Township.

Fire crews said a fire broke out Monday evening at a home in the 6800 block of Westin Ridge Road in Green Township.

Firefighters said flames from the two-alarm fire went up through the walls of the home from the basement into the first and second floors.

Lt. Robert Wohlfrom, 37, fell through the second floor into the garage while fighting the flames, commanders said.

News 5 photographers said Wohlfrom was seen standing after the incident, but was taken to University Hospital with a neck brace as a precaution.

A second firefighter, Gregory Thesing, 47, sustained a back injury while fighting the fire. Both men were treated and released.

A fire department spokesman said the family was home at the time of the fire.

Damages was estimated at $200,000. Faulty wiring was blamed for the fire.

Firefighters said the family told them they noticed smoke and then found heavy smoke and the sounds of fire coming from the basement. The family was able to escape safely.

Commanders said that 18 units from Green Township and surrounding communities were called to the scene.
