Dec. 21--A mother and her infant son were taken to downtown Jacksonville hospitals but did not suffer serious harm after fire broke out late this morning inside their manufactured home.

Two firefighters also were treated following the fire at Continental Village, a park in the 5400 block of Collins Road, said spokesman Tom Francis of Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. A maintenance man from the complex also was taken to a hospital but in good condition.

A child and a toddler in the home were not harmed.

Francis said the woman's oldest child alerted her of smoke coming from a rear bedroom just before 11 a.m. The woman had been feeding the infant and was able to get her three sons outside but may have gone back in to find a family dog.

She was outside when firefighters arrived but was later taken with the infant for treatment.

The dog was later found to be fine but a pet hamster died in the home. No cause for the fire had been determined early this afternoon.
