Dec. 20--POLLOCKSVILLE -- An 18-year-old Suffolk, Va. woman in a stolen car attempted to run over a firefighter directing traffic at accident scene before leading authorities on a high-speed chase, Jones County sheriff's officials said.

The incident began around 4 a.m. Tuesday. Jones County sheriff's Capt. J.T. Eimer said lawmen were controlling traffic at the crash scene on Ten Mile Ford Road when Miesha Reid Fenner approached, passed a car and attempted to run over a firefighter directing traffic.

"She ran over a traffic cone and blew a stop sign," Eimer said.

Deputies tried to stop the woman but she continued on, leading deputies southbound on U.S. 17 through Pollocksville at 95 mph.

"During the chase, she almost crashed twice on two occasions. Her plates were run and it was learned the car was stolen from Virginia," he said.

The chase continued for nearly 10 miles before ending abruptly on U.S. 17 just north of Maysville in Jones County.

No one was injured.

The woman was taken into custody and placed in Craven County jail with a bond of $40,000. She is accused of stealing the car in Virginia and is awaiting extradition, officials said.

She was charged in Jones County with felony fleeing to elude arrest, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, assault on a firefighter, aggressive driving, failure to heed lights and siren, hit and run, resist arrest, failure to obey traffic officer, failure to stop at a stop sign, no operator's license and speeding. She was served with a warrant for both larceny and grand larceny.
