Aug. 27--A firefighter was injured while fighting a fire at a home in Halethorpe early Tuesday morning, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Firefighters first responded to the 2000 block of Hammonds Ferry Road about 1 a.m. and found flames coming through the roof of the home, the department said.

As they began operations to control the fire from inside the home, a firefighter sustained an undisclosed injury and a "mayday" signal went out, the department said. A second alarm was called as the firefighter was removed from the home.

The firefighter was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the department said.

Other firefighters began to attack the fire from outside the home, and it was brought under control at 2 a.m., the department said.

It remains under investigation.
