A North Carolina firefighter has died of injuries sustained in a collision in October.
No. 7 Township Firefighter Sid Winer, 92, had been involved in the fire service for 14 years.
He was injured Oct. 20 when a vehicle pulled out in front of the department's pickup truck.
Winer suffered serious fractures to both feet, and his right leg was later amputated below the knee.
On Dec. 15, died at a rehab facility at Carolina East Medical Center.
This brings to 83 the number of firefighters to die on duty in 2015.
