A collision between a responding firefighter and another vehicle left one teenager seriously injured in South Byron Friday night.
South Byron Assistant Fire Chief James McKenzie Jr. was responding to a crash scene with his emergency warning equipment activated about 9 p.m. when the crash occurred.
Vitorrio Muoio, 18, failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign when he crashed into McKenzie’s pickup, the Genesee County Sheriff’s office told The Daily News.
Muoio was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital with head injuries.
Andrew Konieczny, 19, the passenger in Muoio’s car, was transported by ground to the hospital with head injuries.
McKenzie’s truck was pushed off the road and fire officials said he did not suffer any injuries.
Muoio was charged with failure to yield and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.v
