A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for the El Paso firefighter who was struck last week while working at a previous accident scene.

A Texas firefighter injured in a hit-and-run while working at the scene of a previous accident last week is still in stable condition.

El Paso firefighter Armando Lopez was part of the response to a vehicle crash Wednesday morning when he was struck by an SUV or pickup truck, KTSM-TV reports. After Lopez was struck, the vehicle fled the scene.

An update Monday on a GoFundMe page set up for Lopez stated that he "remains in stable condition and continues to show improvements."

"Everyone's thoughts and prayers are much appreciated by the family," the update added. "The family expresses their sincerest gratitude to everyone."

So far, the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $9,500, with a goal of $12,000.
