NY Firefighter Hospitalized for Burns, Smoke Inhalation
A firefighter with a department just north of New York City was hospitalized after suffering burns and smoke inhalation during a basement fire.
According to The Daily Voice, the firefighter's injuries occurred around 9 pm Monday night in a residential fire in Valley Cottage in Rockland County.
Valley Cottage fire crews had responded to the blaze along with mutual aid and found heavy smoke coming from the basement of the unoccupied home. As crews were working to extinguish the flames, firefighter Ryan Ebner, 24, suffered burn and smoke inhalation injuries and was transported to Westchester Medical Center.
Few other details were available from the Daily Voice, but other reports said that Ebner, who was on the nozzle during the fire, had been intubated in a burn unit with a cautiously good prognosis.
We will provide an update when we learn more.
