SAN JOSE — A two-alarm fire left a resident and a firefighter injured Tuesday morning at a two-story apartment building in San Jose, according to officials.
Fire crews responded to the call about 9:55 a.m. in the 1500 block of Fitchville Avenue, according to San Jose Fire Department social media posts.
One person was taken to a hospital with burn injuries and a firefighter was hospitalized with a non-burn-related injury, authorities said. Of the six units in the impacted building, three had significant damage to the attic and second floor.
As of 11:26 a.m., the fire was knocked down but wasn’t declared under control, according to firefighters. The Red Cross was requested to help find temporary housing for adults from two different apartment units. The unit where the fire started was vacant and under construction.
Fire officials did not offer a preliminary cause for the blaze.
