Nealy two weeks after a dedicated firefighter from the Third District Volunteer Fire Company, in Bucks County, was injured at a fire, he succumbed to his injuries.
The fire company announced the passing of Ed Margavich late Friday.
He responded to an early morning vehicle fire that spread to a home in Croydon early Aug. 8.
According to an earlier post from the fire company, firefighters were dispatched at 5:18 a.m. and found a burning van with fire that extended to the home.
Third District firefighters responded with Tower 14 and conducted ventilation and search operations at the fire.
The department did not specify what led to Margavich’s passing, stating he "succumbed to his injuries sustained during the performance of his duties while operating on Box 11-36."
Margavich joined the fire company in Bristol Township in 1960.
A life member of the company, who served for 65 years Margavich held many roles, including past fire chief and fire police captain.
"He was known for his kindness, wisdom, and the infectious laughter that brightened our meetings. His spirit will be missed by all," the department shared.
