A Colorado paramedic was killed while responding to a back country rescue call.
Eagle County Paramedic Steve Zuckerman, 61, was killed on his way to a call in Vail. However, no details of the incident haven been released, 9 News reported.
Zuckerman was a member of the Search and Rescue team, a field trainer and was training as a critical care paramedic.
“Steve was one of the helpers. He never missed an opportunity to contribute and his death leaves a giant void in our organization and community,” Eagle County Paramedic Services CEO Brandon Daruna said.
He also served as medical director for World Cup races in Beaver Creek.
On a social media post for the Eagle County Paramedic Services, he once wrote: “EMS is a team sport and I work on an amazing team. Each day brings new challenges and new opportunities to practice field emergency medicine and to make a small difference.”
