Two Point Pleasant volunteer firefighters were fell ill while fighting a brush fire Wednesday.

“The wind direction changed and when it did it blew right on to a couple of the guys. They did not sustain burns. But they both had medical emergencies due to the change of direction of the wind,” Point Pleasant Fire Chief Jeremy Bryant told WSAZ.

They were treated at a hospital and later released. Bryant said it was scary and he's glad they are OK.

“We are very fortunate that nothing further happened and that both will recover just fine. It’s unfortunate any time we have an incident on a fire scene. But, we thank the good Lord up above that both of them got to come home last night and that everything seems to be OK today.”
