Even during a pandemic when social distancing is the norm, a Florida fire department can still receive a surprise visit from an unexpected guest.
That was the case for the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue on Sunday when a coyote was caught dropping in on Station 29. Although shy, the coyote did pause long enough for firefighters to snap a photo commemorating the visit.
"As (firefighters) walked around the truck they found a coyote wandering through the bay," the department stated in an online update shared with the photo. "Not sure who was startled more as they ran in opposite directions. This station is located in a dense urban neighborhood about a mile from the beach."
It's not clear if the coyote asked about joining the department in some capacity.
