A stray bullet entered Jackson Fire Station 19 as firefighters scrambled for cover when hearing multiple gunshots Wednesday evening.

A firefighter sitting on a sofa near the window was able to hit the floor moments before the bullet broke through the glass.

In an interview with 16 WAPT News, Jackson fire officials stated, “this was an unfortunate incident, but it’s something that could happen anywhere at any time.”

There were no immediate plans to change operations or make preparations for a similar incident.
