IN Department Launches FF Wellness App

March 16, 2022
The Brownsburg Fire Department is providing mental health and other resources to assist firefighters with their wellness via an app.

The Brownsburg Fire Department has launched an app that offers confidential resources and additional features to help members with their health and wellness.

Danny Brock, a health and safety officer for the Brownsburg Fire Department, told Fox59, “Firefighters and EMS providers, they don’t want to be in touch with their own mortality, whether that be on the health side or the mental health side, they don’t want to reach out for help.”

According to Brock, the app will provide department members access to anonymous resources they can access on their own including, mental health, physical health, family health and financial resources. It will provide instant access to assistance for members in crisis, or those seeking guidance through their everyday challenges.

Brock noted the fire service as a whole is much more open about firefighter health and wellness and stated his department members have been positive about the program and resources the app provides.

This is the first app of its kind in central Indiana. It makes resources available to community members including fire safety tips and links for community outreach, according to Fox59.
