Man Dies in Wreck with VT Apparatus

A driver was killed and a firefighter suffered non life-threatening injuries Sunday when a pickup collided with a Cornwall fire apparatus.

A driver was killed and a firefighter injured Sunday afternoon when a pickup collided with a Cornwall fire apparatus.

WCAX reports that the driver of the pickup, who was identified as 44-year-old Deane Rubright, was traveling on Route 125 at a high rate of speed and not wearing a seat belt when he crossed the center line into the path of the oncoming apparatus.

The driver of the apparatus, 45-year-old firefighter Thomas Frankovic, was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
