Six Arkansas firefighters were injured when two apparatus collided with one another while they were responding to the same call Thursday.
The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. near the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports. Two Little Rock Fire Department engines reached the intersection at the same time and collided, severely damaging both vehicles.
"Now, I don't know if somebody went through a light. I don't know any of that information," Capt. Doug Coffman told the Democrat Gazette, adding that the incident is still under investigation.
Six firefighter were taken to the accident following the accident. Their injuries weren't considered life-threatening.
An eyewitness told the Democrat Gazette that one firefighter needed to be extricated from one of the engines.
"There was a poor guy, one that was trapped in there for a minute, and I was worried," said Scott Sparks, whose yard was torn up by the accident. "But they got him out."
No information was released about what call the firefighters were responding to, and Coffman wouldn't say which stations the apparatus originated from. Reserve engines, however, would be put into service.
